Emotional Freedom Technique is a combination of
eastern meridian "energy therapy" and western "psychology." Eastern "meridian" therapy is best known for acupuncture or acupressure and utilizes specific access points along what are known as meridians that have been mapped out on the body for five thousand years by the Tibetans. These meridians carry "chi" or "life-force energy." When that "energy" is blocked due to trauma (physical, emotional, chemical) the body or emotions may react in a negative fashion. A person may feel pain or negative emotions due to the disruption. When it is removed, the negativity is also resolved.

The reason we say "psychology" is because one's emotional responses come from the "psyche" and they are directly affected by the blockages in the body's energy channels (meridians). From our experience, we note that most people who experience adverse emotions can resolve them using EFT. This indicates that the psyche is directly connected to the energy system of the body and vice versa. A good example would be when someone gets "butterflies" in their stomach due to anxiety, after "tapping" the "butterflies" are reduced measurably.

The manner in which we address both emotional problems and pain issues is similar. We simply "tap" on certain "access points" along the meridians and in so doing, "balance" the energy in that meridian. This is done by gently tapping at those access points that are closest to the surface of the skin, allowing the blockage to dissipate and the energy to flow again. Once the life force energy begins to flow again, the issue at hand usually is reduced or resolved quite quickly.

There are many aspects of EFT that play a role in how useful it can be in resolving various blockages, however, perhaps the most important aspect is which words are used while addressing each specific problem. This is where an experienced practitioner can be far more effective than a newcomer to the field. A seasoned practitioner utilizes an extensive intake interview and listens very carefully to the client who is experiencing a problem. Once the problem has been outlined, the work begins by addressing the subconscious mind and "accepting" it as it is, without judgment, of what it has been doing to "sabotage" one's life until now. By so doing, the client starts the process in an accepting fashion and the balancing of the energy meridians follows. This brings down the pain or discomfort level progressively as the person goes through the process. The set-up process also automatically corrects any "psychological reversal" that might already be present in the body which would otherwise impair the process of balancing the body's energy.

Ancient Chinese Meridian ChartThe process is a progressive series of reductions of pain or discomfort until the issue or pain is resolved down to a zero level. Once that happens, the next issue will usually automatically rise up and make itself known and the next round starts anew. This is an ongoing procedure until the person has taken care of all aspects of what has been troubling them.

We have produced "EFT On A Page" for you to download after you have read "How to Do EFT." We believe that the more this process is shared and distributed, the better our entire world will be for all of us. While this is certainly not an exhaustive discourse on EFT, it is enough to get you started. Once you succeed at eliminating a pain (even a throbbing thumb you've just hit with a hammer or closed in a door), you too will be convinced that this technique is on the cutting edge of healing.

NOTIFICATION AND WAIVER

While we believe that EFT works well with many symptoms, it is still theoretical in nature and there is no universally accepted scientific explanation for its efficacy or lack thereof.

Ted and Maria Robinson have both taken numerous educational courses on Hypnotism and are both certified Hypnotists by the National Guild of Hypnotists and other organizations. While they have also taken a number of courses on EFT, neither of them are credentialed or licenced therapists or health care professionals in that area. It should be noted that there are no credentials available in EFT at the present time as it is still in the developmental stages.

We do not offer any medical or psychological care or advice other than to advise all clients that they are always ultimately responsible for their own health care and if they want medical, psychological or psychiatric care or advice, they should see a medical or mental health care professional.

We also always advise every client to obtain a waiver or referral from their primary care doctor or other medical professional or their mental health care professional before utilizing EFT or Hypnosis. Certainly each client should not discontinue or modify any medication presently being taken pursuant to medical advice without obtaining medical approval.
In the event that a client fails to obtain a medical referral prior to treatment, they assume all risk and responsibility for any adverse outcome that might result from using EFT or Hypnosis.

The Center for Hypnotherapy and Emotional Freedom Technique assumes no liability to any client or third party for any damages or injury which may result from any treatment that has been rendered in good faith in either discipline.
