Franklin Delano Roosevelt used those words during the height of the Great Depression. It helped bring the country out of one of the worst periods in our history: a period when people went without work regardless of how hard they tried to find it; when they couldn't afford food at times and many people lost their homes and families split up. In fact, the entire world fell into a profound sense of hopelessness and nobody seemed to be able to find a way out. It was so profound, that the German people followed a maniac into World War II despite many German leaders' contrary opinions. And it all came from fear.
If everyone could conquer their fear of fear, everything would change dramatically in their lives. That's not to say that feeling scared isn't okay, it is. But it's the abject fear that grabs you in your gut and holds you in its fists regardless of what logical facts you are presented with to the contrary that I'm talking about. That type of fear that keeps you "stuck" to the point of immobility, such as never going to high places, staying out of elevators, refusing to fly in an airplane and ultimately never going out of the house.
Many people don't realize that there is a simple solution to their fears. You guessed it again - EFT is a great fix for fear. You knew I was going to say that again, didn't you? That's my primary purpose in offering this article. To show you how EFT can directly and immediately help you eliminate fear of every nature. For example, here's how the wording might sound for various types of fear:
"Even though I can't get into an elevator no matter how hard I try, I love and accept myself nonetheless."
"No matter how hard I try to travel in an airplane, I'm just too afraid to get in that plane and give up all my control without medication of some sort or a good stiff drink, yet I love and accept myself."
"I just can't leave the house any more because of all the things that could happen to me after I leave the safety of my home, I love and accept myself nonetheless."
And it's not just the fear itself, but the resistance to change that really keeps us from making changes in our lives. That resistance can even stop you from being successful when you use EFT on your fears if it's not resolved simultaneously. So, we always suggest that you tap on the issue of resistance to change before you work on any other issue. To accomplish change easiest, here are some wordings to help:
"Even though I have some resistance to change within me, I love and accept myself nonetheless."
"Even though I have resistance to letting go of my fears, I love and accept myself anyway."
"Even though I have a lot of resistance to change within me and I really don't want to make any changes in my life, I love and accept myself anyway."
"I have so much resistance to change within me that I'll never be able to change anything in my life, yet I love myself fully and completely."
"I don't believe that I really have so much resistance within me that I can't overcome it, but I still can't change anything, so I must have it within me, yet I love and accept myself anyway."
All of this is intended to help you learn how to change your life and eliminate your fears. You can change any of the wording to any negative personal trait that you think is stopping you from doing what you want in life. It's all up to you. Here's a phrase for that as well:
"Even though I feel overwhelmed because my entire healing is all up to me, I love and accept myself nonetheless."
"Even though I don't feel up to it to change my behavior or the fear I feel about things, I love and accept myself anyway."
As always, the wordings above are Set-Up phrases and they are intended to be used by you to address your fears, etc. on your own. Remember to use parts of those phrases as you tap each point during the Sequence stage of the technique. These are Reminder Phrases or Words that keep the mind focused on the issue you're working with at the time. At the conclusion of each round, evaluate how you're feeling and whether the issue itself has changed or not. If it is changed in any way, amend your words to reflect the change and move on to the next Set-Up and Sequence until you're satisfied that whatever it is that's been holding you back has been resolved and you feel free again.
By the time you finish all of the tapping on your fears, you should start to feel lighter and more at peace with yourself. You may begin to notice that you start to do things that you haven't done in years quite naturally and effortlessly. Take the time to notice them whenever they occur. Celebrate the changes in your life and remember it was this simple tapping mechanism that broke you free of your fears. It can work just that easily. The holidays are almost upon us and now is the time to eliminate your fears and start the new year off right. Take the time for yourself right now and start the process. You won't regret it.
