Danish Cucumber Salad
This is a great warm weather salad to complement burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs and fish.
Ingredients:
11/2 big English cucumbers
1 cup white vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
pepper to taste
shredded mint or parsley
Rinse cucumber in water and slice thinly round pieces. A food processor does a beautiful job if you have it.
Mix water, vinegar, sugar and pepper. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add the sliced cucumber. Make sure all the slices are covered with the liquid. Let sit overnight in the refrigerator. Just before serving, sprinkle shredded mint or parsley on top.
This salad can last several weeks in the refrigerator.

Life is Just a Dream |
|
I was recently reading a book by an author known as Adyashanti entitled Emptiness Dancing. He was discussing the concept that everything we think we perceive as reality in our lives is actually a dream that we simply believe is real. It's a hard concept to even contemplate, let alone accept. But, if you consider how many times you've woken up from a dream because it was too real and it scared the heck out of you, it might give you an idea of how much we think our thoughts are real. I've heard the concept described as "maya," the Indian world for dream. I even heard Wayne Dyer describe the whole idea in the context of that very old song "Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream." Or that other old do-wop song "Life is but a dream, shaboom, shaboom." After considering it a bit, I realized that the Law of Attraction (from the movie, "The Secret") is perfectly in keeping with this idea.
As I've discussed before, the Law of Attraction acts automatically to attract into your life whatever it is you are feeling. If you are feeling abundant, you will attract abundance into your life. If you are feeling needy, you will attract neediness into your life. Once you recognize that you are living within your very own dream which you perceive as reality, in which many things you don't like very much are in it with you, it gives you the ability to change how your dream progresses and eventually turns out. Just as when you dream during sleep, you make up all of the actors within your dream and you direct them to do everything they do (some good, some not so good). When you awaken in the middle of a great dream, you may want to finish that dream, so you'll often go back to sleep so you can experience the end of it. In such instances, you realize that you are in control of your dream and what's occurring within it. You make up the landscape. You envision who is in your dream with you and you decide what will happen between you and the other participants. That's because it's your dream. In fact, if you don't like the dream, you can often wake yourself up from your dream and stop it in its tracks.
It's just like your life. The Law of Attraction basically holds that you decide who you are and what role you're going to play in your life/dream. You could be a victim or a bully. You could be successful or always seeking success - unsuccessfully. You can have happiness in your life or not. You can have fears in your life or go through your life carefree. As Henry Ford said, "If you think you'll be successful or unsuccessful, you're right!" Either way, it's up to you and how you envision your life. That's because it's all "a dream" that you're in and you're both the dreamer and the main actor in the dream. Could this life you're living just be a big dream? You bet it can.
